My guys I nanny are school age so my day started with a walk along Coast Blvd with my some friends.
Today was an early dismissal day at school so I got a couple of extra hours with the boys.
I am fortunate that they like to make homemade snacks…especially if it’s a treat!
Today was fudge. Again, I used Betty Crocker’s New Boys and Girls Cookbook – Fantastic Fudge recipe.
We did the microwave version, which is basically three steps:
Melt 18 ounces of chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl (cover with plastic wrap but leave an opening) on medium (50%) power for 5 minutes. (time may vary)
Stir until smooth and add 1 -14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 tsp, vanilla, and a dash of salt.
Pour into a greased 8 X 8 inch pan and smooth with the back of a spoon.
Refrigerate 2 hours.
Cut into 1′ squares.
We added strawberries and milk for a more nutritious snack.
While the fudge was firming in the fridge, we started on our pine cone garland that will be a decoration for their sukkah. (A structure used in the Jewish celebration of Sukkot)
While the boys helped me collect the pine cones for the garland I made last week, they said they wanted to make one for a sukkah decoration. After trying it out myself, I agreed it would be a great project for them and would look great in the sukkah.

I tied the clusters together for them.
We got this far before running out of twine so we will continue next week. I just love the way they turn out. Great fall/winter decoration for indoors or out!
By time we did homework and chores, we had a little bit of of time for some Pokemon Go before showers.
